ArcelorMittal South Africa has decided to use Asysco Migration Technology (AMT) to convert their Unisys mainframe system to an open Windows based platform.
The current Unisys Libra platform (with COBOL as the main programming language) is running the mission critical production and planning systems for their huge steel operation in South Africa.
The comprehensive all-inclusive migration project will convert all code, data, and workflows. The final turn key delivery will allow ArcelorMittal to harvest improvements in areas like operational management, printing and reporting, interfacing, web access, etc.
ArcelorMittal have chosen the AMT Visual Studio option and are looking forward to a lowered TCO and a modernised and more flexible environment.
