There must be a European technology strategy, says the Dutch political party D66 in the Dutch newspaper ‘het Financieel Dagblad’.
European tech companies must be able to merge more easily and be protected against takeovers by, for example, the Chinese or Americans. The political party also calls for the European Union to allocate fifty billion euros between 2021 and 2027 for five technologies that must be given top priority. This includes artificial intelligence, cyber security, space travel, quantum computing and digital infrastructure. Good news for emerging tech companies but also for existing companies that have modernized their IT environment and are ready to jump on this politically supported, new technology train.
